17 Bends, 40 Garages

The Mandalika Circuit was built as a world-class racing circuit. With a length of 4.31 km, the Mandalika circuit has a total of 17 corners that are ready to be conquered by world racers. Another interesting thing is in the paddock area (garage for the racing team), which reaches 40 garages. The garages are permanently built and above them are press and newsrooms.
100% Complete
As of the end of May, the construction of the Mandalika circuit has reached 100%. The service road work that has been paved is about 4,230 meters out of a total of 8,120 meters. The asphalting of the AC-Base first layer on the main track has also reached 4.3 km out of a total of 4.3 km. In addition to asphalting, there are also other works being carried out simultaneously, namely asphalting the AC-Binder service road, laying gravel beds, fabricating and installing concrete barriers and Debrish Fence fences, and PitwallGeoburgg. In addition, there is also tree and grass landscaping work, circuit surface drainage work, and the Borepile foundation work for the Race Control building.
Asphalt from England
PT Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (PT ITDC) brought special asphalt from England for the top layer of the track. Meanwhile, the asphalt layer at the bottom of the track is original made in Indonesia. ITDC also brought in wind-filled guardrails on the outskirts of the circuit directly from Germany. However, for other components, the Mandalika circuit still relies on locally made products from NTB, one of which is gravel for the Gravel circuit.
Accommodating 195,000 viewers
Quoting from Kompas.com, the Mandalika circuit can accommodate up to around 195,000 spectators when the situation is normal or not during the COVID-19 pandemic. While in the midst of the pandemic, it is estimated that it can only reach 114,000 viewers. This calculation is obtained from the details of 40% of the local audience, and the rest are foreign tourists during the three days of the MotoGP event.
Enter the 2022 MotoGP Calendar
It was planned that this year the Mandalika circuit was ready to hold a MotoGP racing event, but it was canceled due to the pandemic situation. Even so, the Mandalika circuit is again scheduled to be included in the MotoGP racing calendar for the next season which is planned to be held in March 2022.
Enter the 2021 WSBK Superbike Calendar
Before being used for MotoGP racing, the Mandalika circuit will be used first in the Superbike World (WSBK) racing event. The plan is that the Mandalika circuit will host the 11th Superbike World series on November 11-14, 2021.
Mandalika Circuit Completed July 2021
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno targets the Mandalika circuit to be completed in July 2021. So that later it will be ready to hold Superbike World in early November 2021.
